My neighborhood has a mix of architectural styles reflecting buildings from the Victorian era, the Arts and Craft movement, Art Deco Style and modern post WWII buildings. In the 1950's people started moving to the suburbs and the neighborhood started to decline. Many of the old Victorians were lost to fires and neglect. Now there are a lot of younger owners moving in and restoring the old houses. The neighborhood is starting to be revitalized. I have many fond memories of growing up here. The houses on my street were given the names of the owner's. Mrs. O'Brien's house has a young family in it. The Di Pino house has been sold and the new owner has kept the inside original as possible. The Edward's house has been repainted in Victorian glory. Cliff's house still belongs to Cliff. I remember the Italian delicatessen downtown that smelled of garlic and spices where we bought our handmade raviolis. I realize now that these buildings were built in the 1890's. Some of the buildings still remain.
